Welcome to Mrs. Dickson's classroom!

I have the most amazing privilege of being a special education teacher. This year I am in an adaptive self contained class. I will have seven kids with me all day. These students have certain needs and my classroom is designed to not only meet those needs, but to instill a sense of imagination in my students. Here is a glimpse into my classroom, but the pictures don’t really do it justice so you really should just come visit me and my kiddos!
Anyway, here is the "closet space" I took old cardboard boxes and covered them with extra fabric, cheap felt, and ribbon. These boxes contain puzzles, abc letters, interactive games, center games, letter word games, dry erase boards, markers, and paints that are easily accessed:

This is my desk :)

The back wall of the classroom which contains my reading corner and center central board:

The banner says "central center" this is where I will
have the centers for each day. Materials will be in the
baskets. My two aids will each be in charge of a group
and Iwill have a group. You can see the baskets here, and
the clip boards are to display student work. The cork boards
are to pin the names of students that will be in each group
each day. This is my favorite boad in the classroom!

Small details of the reading corner.

Classroom rules and expectations boards:
(One thing I do not have a picture of is my rewards board. I have a guitar that says "Rocking behavior" that I borrowed from pintrest :) This board is where the students move thier card from ready to rock to singing the blues and can work their way up to being a rockstar. Anyone that stays on Rockstar all week will get to take thier picture with rockstar glsses and dress up and their picture will go on the board. Sorry I didn't have that picture.. but here are the rules:
The table under this board is the sand/rice table. My kiddos will love that!

Next is the small hallway view where I have created a space for cubbies/coats/bookbag rack:

After they take off thier coats they will go to the counter and get their basket that is thier color. Each student has a color that they will have all year long:)

next is the birthday wall:

Last is the desks ready for the parent packets:

I hope you enjoyed a view into my clasroom! Come vsit any time, we would love to have you!!
